Me and myself

About me

I was born on the Italian side of the Alps, in the beautiful bilingual town of Merano, South Tyrol, where cultures, languages, and traditions naturally intertwine. With a German mother and an Italian father, I grew up moving easily between two worlds—something that has shaped the way I see and tell stories.

From a young age, I was drawn to music, art, theater, and the magic of the circus. But perhaps my greatest early inspiration came from my grandfather, who introduced me to the charm of old photo cameras. Through his lens, I began to see the world differently—fascinated by the stories hidden in every frame.

After high school, where I studied graphic design, I followed this passion into film and sound. I completed a three-year program in video editing and sound design at the ZeLIG School for Documentary Film, Television, and New Media, graduating in 2010.

Television became my first playground. I worked as an editor and cameraman for South Tyrolean channels SDF (in German) and Video33 (in Italian), before moving to Vienna in 2012 to join Austria’s national broadcaster, ORF, as a video editor, where I worked for 7 years.

India soon became a recurring chapter in my life. My travels there pulled me back again and again, until, on my eighth visit—while filming a documentary on e-waste—I met my wife. In 2018, I moved to Bangalore, and the following year we began our life together.

In 2022, I launched HocusFocus, my own creative studio dedicated to shaping stories through branding, video, and design. It’s the place where all these influences—cultures, journeys, and creative passions—come together.
